Thanksgiving Dinner at Chef's Bistro

                                              Menu at Chef's Bistro
As Pinoys, we don't usually celebrate Thanksgiving Day for it is celebrated primarily in the U.S. where there is a large meal and most common and general dish at the center, a large roasted turkey, nonetheless me and my sister decided to celebrate it. We decided to have our Thanksgiving Dinner at Chef's Bistro which was located at 94 Sct. Gandia near corner T. Morato QC. Even though there wasn't a turkey dish in their menu, we decided to order mostly the dishes with photos in the menu.

After we ordered our food, we were served what looks like Apperatif - Bread with olive oil and vinegar. The first time I ate this was at Italianni's. I guess this kind of food is usually given at Italian restaurants for free while waiting for the food to be served. Its just that Chef's Bistro isn't really an Italian restaurant but a fusion of Western and Asian food.

Chef's Bistro Ice Blended Tea (Pitcher) P110
The ice blended tea was nothing special, but definitely a break from the common taste of Iced teas served at fast food restaurants and homes.
                                             Bistro's Clam Chowder (solo) P80
The soup was delicious but was kind of disappointed with the serving. The soup didn't even went over halfway the cup but there were generous amounts of clam and diced potato. The soup was also watery, thin unlike other clam chowders that are thick.
                                                           Pisa P275
My sister order the Pisa for our starter dish. It is a 7 layer tower of shrimp, mushrooms, and melted mozzarella cheese. I don't like eating shrimp so my sister mostly ate the whole dish but still, I ate the mushrooms and it was good especially with the melted mozzarella cheese. A must try for people who love shrimp.

Caesar Salad (good for 2) P215
Next dish that was served to our table was the Caesar Salad. The salad was served with bacon bits, croutons, lettuce and their own special caesar dressing. The Salad wasn't so presentable and we were disappointed with the lettuce that they used for the salald. Me and my sister thought that the salad would have different kind of lettuces, but I guess you can't expect too much.

Fish Fritters (good for 2) P265
Next was the Fish Fritters , 6 pcs. of deep fried cream dori fish fillet with 3 pcs. of their home made bread. Nothing can be said about this dish, only that we should have ordered the Assault and Battery Shrimp instead of this dish. We only ate 4 pcs. of this fish fritters for what we were really waiting for was the main dish.

US Ribe Eye Steak (good for 2) P595
Now for my favorite part of the meal, The entree or main course. I was lusting for a steak meal for a very long time so I ordered myself the US Rib Eye Steak which cost around 595 Pesos. The menu said that it was good for 2 persons, so generally I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it...or so I thought. The steak was served with mash potatoes, 2 scoops to be exact and a side of  carrots and asparagus. It was juicy and tender, and the sauce was so good that it complimented the steak very well and even a good match with the mash potatoes that lack flavor.
                                           Porkloin (good for 2) P368
My sister order the Porkloin which cost around 368 Pesos. The porkloin was grilled with herb sauce and topped with bacon bits and a side of herb vegetables and pasta. The dish was good for 2 persons so my sister wasn't able to finish it alone so I had to helped. The porkloin was also juicy and tender like my steak, the difference is the sauce used at the porkloin which was also good especially with the bacon bits on it. It was so good that I can't believe I was able to eat my steak and half of her porkloin. The pasta was also good that it made me wanted to try their different pasta dishes they had in their menu, but I was already full and we still had to try their desserts so maybe next time.
                                                Mango Cheese Cake P120
My sister had the mango cheese cake and of course I was able to get a taste. After we both tasted the cake, we both were surprised that it tasted more like the graham mango cakes that were made at home instead of a cheese cake. She should have ordered the Blueberry cheese cake but I'm not sure even if that would taste good.
                                                      Natsi's Crepe P190
For my dessert I had the Natsi's crepe, It had a scoop of ice cream some fresh kiwi and mango drizzled with caramel sauce. This would be my first time I would eat a crepe and maybe even my last. I didn't really liked the taste of this crepe, it was too sweet for me. I guess if I should try to eat crepe again, it would be on a restaurant that serves crepe as their specialty.

 Last Words
Chef's Bistro is a very nice place to dine with your friends and family. If you would like to get good seats you should call first and reserve, we were lucky that we were able to get a table even though we just walk-in there to dine. The place is a small restaurant and there were only about 3 tables for four people on the first floor, there's a 2nd floor but I guess they only allow customers upstairs if the tables downstairs are all occupied. There were many dishes in their menu that we weren't able to try like their pizzas and pastas. If you guys are goint to T. Morato Q.C. for your gimmick, this is a nice change of place to dine in.

Lunch at Italianni's Gateway

My sister and I love pizza, I cant remember a time when we were at high school that we didn't order and have pizza delivered from Domino's on weekends. (I wonder what happened to Domino's Pizza?) But now we usually eat at the same places always like Pizza Hut, Yellow Cab and Shakeys so we decided for a change to eat at Italianni's restaurant and see what real Italian pizzas taste like.

It was lunchtime so there weren't may customers that time. There were just me and my sister and this other group of people across our table.

                                                         Foccacia Bread
After ordering our food, we were served with Foccacia bread with a plate of balsamic vinegar-olive oil dip. Perfect dish to eat while waiting for our food, it reminded me of Pizza Hut where instead of Foccacia bread, they served breadsticks.

Parmesan Crusted Fish Fillet (Lunch) P395
It didn't took long for our dishes to arrive, mine was the Parmesan Crusted Fish Fillet. It is a white fish fillet coated with parmesan cheese served with caper sauce, mashed potatoes and buttered vegetables. Theres a regular version which is good for 2 persons at P595. The Fish FIllet was juicy and so yummy and  especially with the caper sauce. I finished the whole dish except for the vegetables which I didn't like.

                                            Seafood Cioppino (regular) P395
My sister ordered the Seafood Cioppino, the dish included some mussels, shrimps, clams, calamari and linguine in red wine and tomato sauce enhanced with basil pesto. Theres also a regular version for 2 people to share for P595.The name of the dish sounded good, and it did  taste even better. This was the only picture that I had of the pasta because the presentation was so good that my sister got excited and ate some of the pasta already.

                                                       Classico P495
Now for the pizza, we didn't know what should we order so we decided for the Classico for the menu said that it is their specialty. The pizza had Italian sausages, mushrooms and peppers with mozzarella and romano cheese. The pizza was very delicious! The thin crust was so good and the flavor of the sauce and romano cheese on top made it even better. A real Classic Italian pizza indeed.

Final Thoughts
The staff were very attentive and accommodating. We didn't had any troubles during or lunch experience at Italianni's. Great Pizza and Pasta at prices that are reasonable. Expect for me and my sister to come back to taste there delicious pizzas.

Buon appetito!
